Redefining Food Habits

Restoring Sanity to Health, Weight loss, and Nutrition

Trigger Foods

Trigger foods are those foods that are addictive in nature, and are not exactly healthy in terms of vitamins and nutrients. They typically have copious amounts of sugar, salt, and fats--mainly hydrogenated fats.

Salty

  • Crackers
  • Chips
  • Popcorn
  • Pretzels
  • Cheese puffs, and
  • Basically any salty processed foods

Sweet

  • Pastries of all types
  • Cookies
  • Cakes
  • Candy
  • Soda
  • Any sugar sweetened beverage
  • Any artificially sweetened beverage or snacks

Fatty

  • Fried, breaded foods, like fish, chicken, onion rings, etc.
  • French fries, which are also pure starch
  • Fried doughnuts
  • Any other foods that use hydrogenated oils

As you can see, any and all processed foods can be triggers for a food addiction, especially if you were to eat enough of said food. To deal with an addiction, these foods are generally best avoided.
